What about life?
Why is it that when I can't sleep in I am so incredibly tired and just do not want to get out of bed, BUT when I can I am not able to sleep in? Story of my life! I am convinced that there is a curse, a mommy curse. Think about it...
Maybe "curse" is the wrong word...Not all of it is so bad. Hmmm! Let see, after having kids things have changed, of course that's expected, but some things weren't. How is it that when I see a child that is not mine doing something I say to myself "man that kid needs smacked", but can tolerate it when my own child does the same? Children in general annoy me, which is why I never became a teacher, You're welcome parents. When I found out I was going to be a mom I was terrified, because I found myself getting so frustrated with other peoples kids, I mean just the look of them sometimes, and I thought I would make a horrible mother. But when the day finally came, something clicked and "TADA" I was actually a natural, and pretty dang good at the mommy thing. Don't get me wrong, other children are still irritating and I find myself fighting the urge to muzzle them, but it's not nearly as bad. Don't worry friends, I will not be muzzling your children, at least not while you're looking.
My daughter (she's four) came up to me the other day and asked if she could practice peeing standing up like her brother. After explaining to her that girls are simply not capable of doing that (i know...boys get all the cool stuff), she informed me that she was confident in her abilities and she would like to try. *Sigh* ...This was not going as planned. I took this opportunity to explain to her that it would only be fair to let her brother have this one little" luxury" in life, because us women actually get the cool stuff anyway. We get to have severe cramps every month. We get to go through the horrible pain of child birth, while our husbands sit by reading their books. We get to bloat and have back aches. We get to spend a lot of time shaving and waxing while our men walk around happy and hairy. Not only that, we get to spend our lives proving that we can do anything guys can do, only to come out make less money. So I said to her "sweetheart, why dont we just let them have this one thing"!
Oh the things you go through as a mom.
